Choose location of ceremony

Visit your clergy to select a date

Select site for and plan reception

Choose your attendants

Sit down with your fiancé and draw up an invitation list.

Select your wedding dress, veil, accessories and bridesmaids' dresses.

Select a photographer, videographer and a florist.

4 MONTHS

Order invitations, stationery and note paper.

Plan your honeymoon.

Shop for your trousseau.

Have the mothers choose their dresses

Set a date for your blood test (requirements vary from state to state)

Look for a place to live

Shop for home furnishings

2 MONTHS

Address & mail your wedding invitations.

Check with local newspapers on wedding announcement deadline

Choose gifts for your attendants.

Buy your wedding rings; order engraving.

Check your state laws to see how many days a marriage license is valid for and obtain accordingly.

1 MONTH

Have your hair styled as you will wear it at the wedding

Final fitting for you and your bridesmaids' dresses.

Plan the rehearsal dinner or party.

Plan for out-of-town guests.

Call guests who haven't responded to confirm their attendance.

TWO WEEKS

Record wedding gifts as you receive them and write thank-you notes promptly

Confirm time and date of wedding rehearsal with members of your wedding party

Review reception seating plans and prepare place cards if necessary

Arrange to move your belongings to new home

Schedule appointment with hairdresser and manicurist

Arrange for name and address changes on your bank account, credit cards, drivers license, social security, and utilities

ONE WEEK

Have final consultations with caterer, florist, entertainers and photographers

Give final guest count to reception facility or caterer

Host bridesmaids luncheon

Begin packing for honeymoon trip

Relax and get plenty of rest ... the planning is complete so let the festivities begin
